Combat Casey and Penny Pennington have just broken out of a prisoner of war camp and flee the guards into the darkness of night. When some guards on a motorcycle chase after them, Combat and Penny knock them off their motorcycles and crash it before continuing on their way.

Pushing on into the night, Combat and Penny come across a river where the communist forces are loading their weapons and men on large rafts to be piloted down river to attack American lines. The pair try to steal a truck to get away but have to bail out when they realize that enemy soldiers are in the back.

In order to stop the raft invasion, Penny comes up with a solution: build a dam to divert the river. They complete the dam, diverting the river and sending the enemy army plunging off a waterfall.

The Battleground is Mined!

Dog Company is in pursuit of an army of communist soldiers and are slowed down due to the enemy placing mines along the way, forcing the American soldiers to search for the mines using metal detectors. As Combat and Penny locate the mines and rope off the areas, the communists up the way are placing yet another field of mines to slow the Americans down.

Along the way, they come across an enemy supply shed and Combat blows it up with a grenade. In the wreckage they find boxes of weather balloons that Penny believes will help them get past the mine fields without any further delay. Soon the Americans catch up with their opposing army and the communist forces are easily defeated and surrender. The commanding officer asks how the Americans managed to catch up to them so quickly. Penny explains how they used the weather balloons as cushions on their feet allowing them to cross over the land mines without setting them off.
