Kent Blake Primer
Series Overview
Kent Blake of the Secret Service was a spy series that was published by Atlas Comics from 1951-1953. It focused primarily on Kent Blake who was — surprise, surprise — a member of the Secret Service. It also had a number of one-off spy stories nobody in their right mind would give a shit about. This series was one of the first series that was fully inspired by the Cold War, having Kent Blake go up against Chinese and Russian communists.
“A Load of Queer” meant something very different back then.
There’s not really much to this series. Is it canon? Surprisingly, Yes! Kent Blake would make a brief return — as a crime fighting ghost! — in Amazing Spider-Man Annual #13. It’s not as cool as it sounds.
