Black Panther #10

This World Shall Die!

Credits

The Black Panther surrenders to two members of the Sudanese military so he can ambush them and steal their plane. The gamble pays off and uses the plane to make the final stretch back to Wakanda.

In T’Challa’s homeland things are looking grim. The mutated Jakarra is free once again and making his way to the Vibranium Mound. If he makes it inside he will fulfill a catastrophic prophecy that states the world will come to an end. N’Gassi — the elder left in charge while T’Challa is away — mobilizes the Wakandan military to try and stop the monster, but in its final form it is completely bullet proof.

Inside the palace, Joshua Itobo is working on something that will hopefully cure Jakarra of his transformation. With time running out, the rest of the Black Musketeers are prepared to leap into action. Joshua warns them that the legends are true as, thanks to being transformed by Vibranium, Jakarra has become a living catalyst that can make the mound of the rare metal reach critical mass, causing massive vibrations that will shatter the entire planet.

Meanwhile, T’Challa is pursued by military aircraft trying to take him down. Luckily, he manages to reach the secret cave entrance into Wakanda and then takes pneumatic car back to the palace. Happy to finally be home and unaware of the current crisis, T’Challa wonders what N’Gassi has been up to in his absence.

Back at the scene of the battle, Jakarra is continuing his way to the Vibranium Mound, pushing his way through all opposition. When the Black Musketeers arrive on the scene they manage to slow him down by pouring a freezing compound on the monster. However, this only gives them a moment’s reprieve as Jakarra breaks free. When the Musketeers try to stop him, Jakarra keeps them at bay by shooting flames from the palms of his hand.

That’s when the Black Panther arrives on the scene and, having been brought up to speed by N’Gassi, grabs Joshua’s cure and races into the mound after Jakarra. The monster fights back until it reaches the mound. There, Jakarra stops and raises his hands, causing the vibrations within the mound to begin building up. With no time to spare, T’Challa leaps on the monster and stabs it with the cure. However, instead of restoring Jakarra to normal, it causes him to explode, ending his threat and saving the entire world.
