Unscheduled Stop Part 1

Caught in the rain, Spider-Man is eating Chinese food under a make-shift umbrella. He’s slightly amused to see that his fortune cookie says that he will be lucky today. He complaints to himself how he has to meet up with Aunt May at the FEAST Center and doesn’t have enough money for a ride. That’s when an MTC MetroCard gets caught in his make-shift umbrella. Changing into his street clothes, Peter rushes to the Clark Street subway station, and luckily, the card has enough for the fare Peter needs to get to Brooklyn. Peter just barely manages to get to the subway train. However, Peter is stopped from entering one of the cars by an NYPD officer who tells him to get the next train. However, an attractive woman in the next car holds the door open so Peter can get on board. As Peter crams into the crowded car, he wonders what is going on with the other car which has barely twenty people in it. The woman who held the door open for Peter is pressed up against him and telling him how she is a model who needs to get to a photo shoot. When she asks Peter what he does for a living, Peter’s spider-sense suddenly begins shrieking warning him of danger in the other car. Peter pushes through the crowd to get to the door to the other car, pulling out his Spider-Man mask as he goes. That’s when a sudden earthquake rocks the entire tunnel, causing part of it to collapse on the car under police guard.

Thankfully, Peter manages to get his mask on and get into this car and prevent part of the collapsed tunnel from falling on some of the passengers. Unfortunately, the other passengers think that the wall-crawler is responsible and is trying to kill them. However, reason sets in and they pull the injured people out from under the rubble allowing Spider-Man to let go. One of the officers pulls his gun on the wall-crawler and tells his partner to back him up. Tragically, the officer’s partner was buried under the rubble that fell on the opposite side of the subway car. Pulling off the tatters of his street clothes, Spider-Man apologizes for not being able to help the other officer. However, when the grief-stricken cop pulls his gun on Spider-Man, he quickly webs it to the side of a subway car before someone gets hurt.

As Spider-Man treats the wounded, he asks if anyone knows what happened since earthquakes are uncommon in New York City. One of the passengers says that they are all members of the jury for the Giacomo trial and were being brought to look at a crime scene. As the passenger is explaining this, Giacomo’s lawyer immediately objects to any suggestion that his client murdered anybody, or that he somehow done this to prevent the jury from rendering a verdict. Regardless of what is going on, Spider-Man decides to evacuate the people from the subway car and get to the surface before more of the tunnel can cave in. However, once they get outside of the subway car, Spider-Man realizes — to his horror — that they’re still under the river and the tunnel is filling with water. He quickly patches the leaks up the best he can with his webbing but this will only by them a short amount of time.

That’s when they find an emergency exit ladder that can get them out of the tunnel. Spider-Man goes up first to make sure there is no danger. That’s when he is ambushed by the Shocker, who tells Spider-Man that he was hired by Giacomo to kill the jury. As the two fight it out, Spider-Man crushes the Shocker’s vibro-gauntlets. Unfortunately, this causes feedback that causes the emergency exit to shatter and collapse, leaving the wall-crawler and the rest of the passengers more stranded than before. That’s when one of the passengers takes tells Spider-Man that he wants to apologize to the wall-crawler for his so. This confuses Spider-Man who doesn’t know who he is talking about. That’s when the juror introduces himself as J. Jonah Jameson, Senior.
