On Loomworld, Spider-Woman and Spider-Gwen are flighting the Inheritor’s army of enslaved Goblins when they are suddenly rescued by the Earth-616 Spider-Man and his allies who were hiding out on the nuclear wasteland of Earth-3145. Seeing Gwen fighting a version of the Green Goblin, Spider-Man insists on rescuing her until she shows that she can protect herself.[1] With the battle over, Spider-Woman informs Spider-Man that the Inheritors managed to take Silk prisoner while she and Gwen were busy. The news doesn’t sit well with the Spider-Girl of Earth-982, because with the Other and the Bride, the Inheritors will be able to complete their sacrifice of the Sion, her baby brother Benjy.

At the Inheritors headquarters, the family is reunited. They now have the Bride, as well as the corpse of the Other, who was killed by Morlun after the creature slew their father. That’s when Jennix reveals that Solus is still alive. With their cloning facilities destroyed, the mind of their father has been contained in a special crystal.[2] This crystal is handed over to Daemos who vows that their father will live again.

It’s then that Morlun begins the ceremony by cutting the body of the Other and having its blood drain onto the Web of Life. The Master Weaver then proclaims that the age of the Other is now over and it will never find another host again. However, the Weaver warns Morlun that the spiders will feel this and will come and try to stop them from completing the rest of the ceremony. Morlun takes this warning seriously and orders Daemos to stay by his side while the others are ordered to guard the gates.

They arrive at the gates just as Spider-Man and his team are arriving. Knowing they have a fight ahead of them, Spider-Man calls Miles Morales and tells him to bring his Web-Warriors to their coordinates. Suddenly, an even larger army of Spider-Men arrives on Loomworld to boost Peter Parker’s ranks. Among them is the Black Widow who finds a scrap of Kaine’s Scarlet Spider costume. Realizing he’s dead, the Widow vows to avenge his death.

Back inside, Morlun turns his attention to Silk who is also webbed up. He cuts her hand as when her blood drops on the Great Web it will prevent any more spiders from being born by chance. The Great Weaver confirms this by saying those becoming spider-totems by curses, magic, and unwanted luck will no longer come to be. With that, Morlun turns to the Scion — young Benjy Parker — whose blood will prevent any new spider-totems from ever being born. However, before he can cut the child, Spider-Man pulls the dagger away from him. As Peter Parker leaps to face Morlun, Otto Octavius takes Daemos. Parker has noted that Morlun has been avoiding him and suspect that it is because Morlun is afraid because Parker has beaten him on two different occasions in the past.[3] Morlun denies this and says he has killed a thousand other Peter Parkers and will defeat him as well. Meanwhile, Otto Octavius is not faring so well against Daemos. He easily rips off Otto’s mechanical arms. That’s when Spider-Girl leaps in to fight Daemos, wanting to avenge the death of her parents.[4] That’s when Peter notices the Ben Parker from Earth-3145 has reached the Web of Life. He apologizes to Peter as the web is a doorway to multiple worlds and he wants to leave.

Back outside, the other Inheritors continue to fight the Web-Warriors when suddenly Karn teleports onto Loomworld. At first, his siblings think he has come to assist them, but as it turns out Spider-Punk and his team of spiders have convinced Karn to fight on their side.

While inside, Morlun can sense that something is going wrong. Silk tells him that the sacrifice has been interrupted and the Web of Life is healing itself. Morlun refuses to believe this and goes to sacrifice Benjy Parker. However, the infant child has been swapped out with a very nude Spider-Ham. As it turns out, Ben Parker orchestrated the switch and his apparent act of cowardice was actually to cover the fact that he was returning Benjy to his home dimension. Morlun cannot believe that his plans are falling apart, but Spider-Man assures him that it is all coming crashing down. He then contacts Spider-Man 2099 and tells him to come with their secret weapon. Suddenly, Spider-Man 2099 and Lady Spider arrive astride of Leopardon, the giant robot owned by the Japanese Spider-Man from Earth-51778.

Inside, Spider-Girl manages to grab the crystal containing the essence of Solus, and when she learns what it contains she threatens to shatter it to pay Daemos back for killing her own father. That’s when Otto Octavius surprises them all by killing the Master Weaver, as his final triumph over Peter Parker. Spider-Man is horrified by this and tells him that Spider-Men doesn’t kill. Hearing this snaps Mayday out of her desire for revenge. Taking off her mask, she reminds herself that she is the daughter of Spider-Man and renounces revenge for justice. Daemos is grateful and kneels before Spider-Girl and thanks her for sparing his father.

By this time, Morlun has grabbed hold of Spider-Man and attempts to drain his lifeforce. Peter, however, planned on this and uses his transportation device to send them both to Earth-3145. There Morlun begins to succumb to the harmful radiation. However, Spider-Man has no intention of killing his foe and tells him to follow the arrows to the bunker where he can be protected by the harmful radiation. Spider-Man is then pulled back to Loomworld by Silk. Not long after this, the rest of the Inheritors are defeated. They plead with Karn to let them go but he refuses to forgive them for all they done. He then aids the spiders to exile his family on Earth-3145. The last one through is Daemos, who runs through the portal when Spider-Girl tosses the crystal containing his father’s essence through the portal. In the aftermath of the battle, Spider-Ham tells May that her father would have been proud of how she handled herself in the final battle. With the battle seemingly over, the spiders celebrate their victory and the prospect of returning home.

Off in a corner, SIlk hold on to Spider-Man who is exhausted after his life-or-death battle with Morlun. He is also weak from the portion of his life force that was absorbed by his foe. Silk jokes that her pheromones are still working on him. Spider-Man is too exhausted to do anything and hopes she is okay with just holding hands.

Continuity Notes

  1. Spider-Man is protective of Gwen, particularly when a Goblin is involved because the Earth-616 version of Gwen Stacy was killed by Norman Osborn in Amazing Spider-Man #121.

  2. When an Inheritor died their minds were downloaded into a cloned body, effectively making them immortal. However, the Scarlet Spider, the Ultimate Black Widow, and the Ben Reilly Spider-Man destroyed the cloning facility, as seen in Scarlet Spiders #1-3.

  3. I can’t wait until I’m done indexing these Spider-Verse stories so I can stop referencing Amazing Spider-Man (vol. 2) #30-35 and the Other: Evolve or Die (Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1-4, Marvel Knights: Spider-Man #19-22 and Amazing Spider-Man #525-528)

  4. Daemos killed the Peter Parker of Earth-982 and left May to think that her mother and boyfriend were murdered as well, as seen in Amazing Spider-Man (vol. 3) #8. She will learn that Mary Jane and Wes survived next issue,
