A man named Blake has accused Billy Buckskin for stealing ponies from the local Native American reservation. Although Soapy and Sally Frosby stand up for Billy, Captain Frosby asks Billy to turn himself in and they are shocked when Billy does just that. With Billy locked away, Blake -- the real thief -- rides out of Fort Ironsides confident that he can move the stolen ponies without interruption. That night, Billy is freed from his cell by Sally who stole the key from her father.

Billy sneaks out of the base and with Soapy goes out searching for the stolen ponies. Hearing hoof beats, Billy and Soapy follow the sound and find Blake and his men moving the ponies. Billy rushes out and stops the racing ponies. When Blake's men try to shoot the young man, their are ambushed by Soapy who orders them to stand down. Suddenly the military arrives and when Blake tries to make a run for it, he is tackled off his horse by Billy.

Later, back at the Fort, Billy and Captain Frosby reveal that they knew that Blake was responsible for stealing the ponies and that Billy willingly turned himself to lead him into a trap.
