Series Overview

Blonde Phantom Comics replaced All-Select Comics, an anthology superhero series, and continued with the same numbering, starting with issue #12.Every issue featured multiple stories staring the Blonde Phantom and various filler stories. Issue #12 Featured Doctor Wu (a carry over from All-Select Comics), and Miss America. In the following issue Mister Wu was dropped and replaced with the Sub-Mariner who remained as a backup feature for the rest of the series run, with a brief absence in issue #16 which featured a Captain America story instead. Miss America was eventually dropped by issue #15.

With superheroes losing popularity, Blonde Phantom Comics was later replaced after issue #22 being replaced with a romance comic called Lovers, which resumed the same numbering as BPC.

Series Legacy

The Blonde Phantom remained a mostly untapped character until the 1980s when she Louise Mason (having retired from superheroics) appeared in the pages of Sensational She-Hulk as a sidekick of sorts for the She-Hulk. Marvel has also delved into the Blonde Phantom’s past featuring the character in All-Select Comics 70th Anniversary Special and she was one of Nick Fury’s teammates in Avengers: 1959.
