Sacred Geometries

At Project PEGASUS, Quasar has just banished the Angler to another dimension. However, moments later, a massive creature called Geometer emerges on Earth. Quasar attempts to banish Geometer with his Nth Projector, but the creature turns the device into a harmless cube. After telling his girlfriend Kayla Ballentine to run for it he traps Geometer in a sphere of quantum energy. However, as Quasar goes to get help, the alien uses its power to free itself by turning the sphere into geometric shapes and heads for the loading dock.

Elsewhere, along the Virginia Coast, Doctor Spectrum and the Whizzer are working together to capture the super-villain known as Ion. Contained in one of Specturm’s prism shapes they begin hauling her back to Project PEGASUS.

By this time, Geometer has blasted its way through Quasar and is engaging Blue Shield and the facility guards in the marking lot. When Skylark arrives she goes to check and see if Quasar is okay and is shocked to discover that he has been partially transformed into a geometic creature, just like the Angler. Hyperion also arrives on the scene but is quickly incapacitated when Geometer uses his powers to tie Hyperion’s arms and legs into knots. Waking up, Quasar contacts Epoch and asks her to pull up all available information about the creature they are facing.

Back down below, Kayla Ballentine decides to stop waiting on the sidelines. Since her Star Brand powers seem to be coming back, she figures that she can help stop this alien menace and heads to the surface.

By this time, Geometer has used his weapon to create a massive dodecahedron that is slowly growing in size. That’s when the Whizzer and Doctor Spectrum arrive on the scene and attempt to disarm the menace, but the creature is able to incapacitate them by changing their physical geometry.

It’s then that Epoch gets back to Quasar and tell him everything she was able to learn about Geometer: He is one of the oldest beings in the universe and became obsessed with what he thought was geometric perfection. Finding the chaotic universe around him as imperfect, he left for another dimension that would better fit with his ideals and hasn’t been seen for billions of years. Quasar approaches Geometer and tries to talk sense into him and gets fully transformed into a geometric being for his troubles. However, this does allow Quasar to speak in Geometer’s language so they can communicate. Geometer reveals that he encountered and transformed the Roxxon Nth soldier into the Angler and, after he encounter with a being from his universe of origin, had decided to return home and transform everything into his idea of geometric perfection. In fact, the ever growing dodecahedron will eventually expand and engulf the entire universe and transform it according to his whims.

That’s when Kayla arrives on the scene and threatens to use the Star Brand to blow Geometer up. Quasar convinces her to stand down and then convinces the cosmic being that his attempts to change the present day universe will be met with resistance every step of the way. He then suggests another solution: Geometer should go back to the dawn of time and use his power to reshape the universe then, when it would be much easier. Geometer likes this idea and when he is told that time travel technology is sparse he will bid his time until he can get access to such technology and carry out his goals. He then undoes all the damage he has caused and leaves Earth.

With the battle over, Quasar explains to his friends what he had done and assures them that Geometer’s attempts to change the past won’t affect them as Geometer will either get destroyed during the Big Bang, or just create a divergent reality.
