Game Over

Arriving on the island of Malta, Spider-Man was struck in the back of the head by a sniper’s bullet. Luckily, it only grazed his skull and when he wakes up he finds himself surrounded by an army of thugs. Although they have the advantage, Spider-Man manages to fight through them all. The web-slinger is so exhausted and sore from his ordeals it almost feels like the time he worked at an assembly line as a teenager. The work was grueling but worthwhile when he used the money to buy his Aunt May a ring. He remembers how she cried when he gave it to her.

He is then confronted by the Spot and when he lunges at his foe, he falls through one of the Spot’s portals. This takes him back to Manhattan. There he finds the sniper who shot him earlier. It is the Black Fox. He decides he is too old to fight Spider-Man and hands him a phone with the number of the man who hired him. However, Spider-Man knows it was the Kingpin who set this all up and heads over to Fisk Tower. At the front door he is attacked by the Hobgoblin and the Green Goblin and defeats them with ease.

Entering the building he finds an army of nearly every villain he has ever fought. He fights through them all until he reaches the Kingpin’s office where he finds Wilson Fisk with his son Richard. Thinking this is his last enemy, Spider-Man attacks the Kingpin as Richard pleads with him to stop. The Kingpin fights but ultimately, Richard manages to break them up. He reveals that this was all a game between him and his father. Richard bet that Spider-Man could best 99 different foes and his father agreed to finance such a scheme. If Richard won, Spider-Man would be allowed to live and could walk out of Fisk Tower unmarred.

Spider-Man has nothing to say about any of this and walks away. Outside he finds Mary Jane arrives in a limo and tells Peter that she came as soon as she heard he was here, as his battle was all over the news. Peter refuses to get into the limo, so Mary Jane suggests they take a cab. The two then go home together where they kiss and crawl into bed together.
