Ben Urich is checking the latest edition of the Daily Bugle and sees that Spider-Man has gotten the larger headline than Daredevil.[1] He’s not surprised, and figures Matt Murdock needs to learn some jokes.[2] That’s when Ben gets a call about developing news story tells the call he’s on it. The story in question is the the kidnapping of a young girl from her home in Queens. There was a ransom note left at the scene but details are sketchy.

Hearing this story, Matt Murdock changes into Daredevil and sneaks past the police cordon to search the little girl’s room for clues. Meanwhile, Spider-Man is swinging across the city when he decides to stop and wait for someone to call from help. Stopping at the Chrystler Building his spider-sense goes off not because of any danger, but because he is attracting attention, prompting him to take off. At the same time, Daredevil is trying to pick up the trail on the missing girl but finds nothing.

Elsewhere, Ben Urich arrives at a dive bar where he buys a for a man he is pumping for information on the missing girl. As Spider-Man is going to answer someone’s cry for help, the man Urich is talking to decides Ben is nothing but trouble and tries to pull a gun on him. However, before he can squeeze off a shot, Daredevil arrives and knocks the gun out of the man’s hand with his billy club. Daredevil orders everyone out of the bar and gets him to talk. After filling in Urich with what he learned, Daredevil continues his hunt for the missing girl. Meanwhile, Spider-Man has just finished rescuing a cat from a telephone pole. The boys who own the cat thank Spider-Man for help and then tell him about something weird they saw earlier that night.

By the time Daredevil arrives at the hidout of the kidnappers, he discovers that Spider-Man beat him to the punch. As the web-slinger swings off with the little girl, he says hello as he passes Daredevil. The Man Without Fear can’t help but grin because Spider-Man cracks him up. Daredevil then calls 911 and has police dispatches to his location. Before he leaves, he warns the crooks that if they ever go after another little kid, they’ll have to face him instead of Spider-Man.

The following morning, as Peter Parker and Matt Murdock still sleep, Ben Urich leaves his home and sees that the front page of the paper is about Spider-Man’s rescue of the missing girl, as he had predicted.
