Shiver Part Three

At the Christmastown radio base, located in the Arctic Circle, Patricia Robertson is face-to-face with a massive creature with sharp teeth and a spider emblem on its chest.[1] As the creature prepares to attack all Robertson can think of is how when she was a little girl she used to be afraid of the dark and how she struggled to overcome this fear. However, before just as the creature is about to touch her, it is blasted by ray fired from the cell phone of a newcomer dressed in a suit and tie. The man in the suit orders her to make a run for it as the monster will recover quickly, but she refuses to leave without the scientist from the Ararat facility and Daniel Jackson who are still knocked out by her feet. The suit is impressed by her conviction and after blasting the creature a second time, tells her to hurry and get them out, warning her that he only has enough energy for one more blast. By this point, Jackson is starting to wake up and both her and Patricia are shocked when the creature suddenly changes shape. It turns out to be their commanding officer, Colonel Michael Malone, and he pleads with them not to let this stranger kill him. In response, Jackson shoots the suit’s cell phone with his gun. In response, the newcomer tells Jackson that he has made a terrible mistake. While they are all distracted, the creature that has possessed Malone’s body has escaped by ripping a hole through the ceiling to get away.

Patricia demands to know what is going on and the mystery man tells her that they are dealing with a parasitic life form that needs to be destroyed. Jackson doesn’t believe the stranger and tries to put him under arrest, but the suit is unphased by this and warns them to do what he says or they will all die. The suit goes on to say that they have to stop the creature before it gets to a larger population center where it can thrive and grow stronger. That’s when Jerome Delacroix enters the room and also trains a gun on the stranger. Fearing that Delacroix has been compromised, the suit threatens to blast him. When the newcomer ignores Jackson’s orders to put the gun down, he shoots the suit in the head, seemingly killing him. They decide to ask the man from the Ararat facility about what’s going on but the scientist started making a run for it in the middle of all the confusion. Taking command, Jackson sends Delacroix to go after the scientist while he and Patricia go looking for their other missing colleague, Harold Saunders. Robertson isn’t comfortable with this plan and decides to take the weaponized cell phone from the body of the seemingly dead stranger. However, as she reaches for the device, the suit suddenly snaps back to life, telling them that it’s not a weapon itself, but a conductor. That’s when the suit unleashes a powerful bolt of energy that knocks out both Patricia and Daniel in a single jolt. He then drags the two into a supply closet and locks it. The suit then calls his superiors to tell them that he has lost the element of surprise. Using a tracker to follow the monster, the suit learns that it has gained access to transport and goes to confront it in the motor pool. The creature asks what the suit wants and he explains that he has come to kill it. The monster finds this ironic since it thinks the suit is no different than it. When the suit tries to blast the creature as it sits in the cab of a truck, it manages to evade the blast and catch the suit in its tendrils.

As the suit struggles to get free, Patricia and Daniel wake up in the supply room and discover that they have been tied together. Jackson figures that they are being used as bait to lure the creature out in the open. Whatever the reason may be, Patricia has decided that their best bet at surviving this situation is through the mystery man in the suit. As she is saying this, neither one is aware that the man has seemingly been killed by the monster.
