The Love Trap!

YACReader - Venus #8 (1950).cbz 2019-08-21 17.37.49.png

At Beauty Magazine, Venus approaches her boss Whitney Hammond and asks his permission for her to take on an assignment to reunite Rona Sanders with her long lost sweetheart George Huston, who disappeared a number of years ago. Whitney agrees, and Venus tells him that she must use an unorthodox method of reuniting the two lovers: That she must convince George Huston to fall in love with her. Whitney finds this revelation shocking but decides to trust her to do what she does best. However, Whitney decides to try and follow Venus and keep an eye on things. Venus detects this and slips into an alleyway and teleports away, much to Hammond's dismay.

The reason behind Venus' plot is that she has learned that George Hudson has become a fraud. Romancing women and bilking them for money for "projects" and investments, she has decided to lure him into a trap to make him fall in love with her. As Venus prepares for her meeting with Hudson, Hudson finishes his work with his most recent "lover", having successfully convinced her to turn over more money before going to meet Venus. When he meets Venus face-to-face, Hudson finds himself immediately smitten by her and the two eventually lead up to a kiss during their date, unaware that Della Mason happened by and has spotted them.

While talking things out on a park bench, George gushes over Venus and correctly deduces that she is really the goddess of love, strengthening his love for her, telling her that he will do anything for her. With this, Venus gets him going on his path of redemption, teleporting away just as Della arrives with Whitney. Seeing the pair suddenly vanish upsets Whitney even more, confirming his fears that he is losing Venus to another man. However, Hammond continues to try and trust Venus and her plans, despite Della's constant prodding of his self-doubt.

Meanwhile, Venus takes George to every woman he has defrauded, and he tells them that he has fallen in love with Venus and that he is going to get married and gives back their money. After giving all the money back, George asks Venus to marry him, but she refuses, telling George that he will be married, just not to her and convinces him to take one more trip to the home of Rona Sanders. While back at Beauty Magazine, Hammond decides to track down Venus and figure out what is going on. Finding the letter from Rona Sanders, he and Della decide to fly to Ohio to confront Venus at the Sanders house. As both parties head for Ohio, at the home of Rona Sanders, a doctor tells Rona's mother that Rona has given up all will to live and only the love of George Hudson will snap her out of her state.

Venus, George, Whitney, and Della all arrive outside of the Sanders house at the same time and Whitney and George argue with each other until Rona's doctor interrupts them. Venus then drags George inside and reunites her with Rona. Rona slips out of her coma until George confesses that he only loves Venus, causing Rona to slip back into her current state. With Rona's situation becoming fatal, Venus quickly teleports back to Olympus where she petitions Jupiter for his help. Jupiter agrees to assist allowing Venus to endow a part of her love power to Rona. Venus invisibly returns to Earth and gives a portion of her power to Rona, who snaps out of her coma. George instantly falls in love with her, curing her of her condition.

With Rona and George reunited, Venus returns to Whitney and the two reconcile their romance as Jupiter watches over them smiling.
