Scenes We Never Saw

Returning home from a vacation in Norway, Donald Blake can hardly believe that he found an enchanted walking stick that can transform him into Thor.[1] Retiring for the night, Don notices the stick is glowing and taps it on the ground to transform into Thor. Suddenly, he is pulled up into the sky and across dimensions to fabled Asgard. There he is greeted by Heimdall who tells Thor that his father, Odin wishes to speak with him. A horse then rides up to take him to the palace. Along the way, Thor is greeted by the people of Asgard. Still thinking himself to be Donald Blake assuming the identity of Thor, he tries to correct them but they don’t listen.

When before Odin, he Blake is greeted as Thor as well. When Donald explains his situation, Odin tells him that even though he is a mortal doctor he is also his own flesh and blood. When Don asks how that can be possible, Odin asks that he just trust him. He then summons all of Thor’s friends and allies so they can celebrate his return.[2]

Recurring Characters

Thor, Heimdall, Odin, Warriors Three (Fandral, Hogun, Volstagg), Sif, Balder, Grand Vizier

Continuity Notes

  1. This story takes place following the events of Journey into Mystery #83.

  2. Early on in his career, Thor thought himself to be Don Blake with the power of Thor. However, it’s later explained that it was the other way around in Thor #159. Deciding his son needed a lesson in humility, Odin banished Thor to Earth in the mortal guise of Donald Blake. Once Thor proved himself worthy, Odin then led him to the cave where Mjolnir was hidden so he could reclaim his birthright.
