While high above the city, Volton can sense the tremendous amount of electricity that is being used to power the lightning gun. Curious as to what is going on, Volton decides to check it out and turns into his energy form. At that same moment, Professor Peter is about to do another test. This time, however, when he presses the fire button he is killed in a tremendous jolt of energy. When Volton emerges from the barrel of the lightning gun, he is instantly blamed for murdering the professor.

He tries to resist the people in the lab when they try to apprehend Volton. Ultimately, the hero is knocked out when someone strikes him with a grounded wire, which saps him of his strength. With Volton taken care of the two men to go looking around for the plans for the lightning gun, the leader of the pair suggesting they blow the place up once they do. One of the remaining scientists has managed to sneak up next to Volton and tell them that one of the men searching for the plans actually pointed the cannon at Peters intentionally. to murder him. He tells Volton to keep the crooks busy while he goes to call the police.

Unfortunately, Volton is still weak, but he has just enough strength to reach out to the switch on the lighting gun and throw it to re-energize himself. Volton takes out the two thieves and when one of them starts talking about who hired him, he is shot in the head. The shooter turns out to be the scientist who claimed to be going to call the police. Volton quickly catches him and he confesses to being a Nazi spy trying to steal the lightning gun plans. After the authorities are called to take the crooks away, Volton decides to leave the same way he came, through the barrel of the lightning gun.
