Now

Silk is walking through a sewer tunnel. She tries to convince herself that she has things all figured out when, suddenly, her spider-sense begins going off. That’s when a Hydra robot snatches her in its tenticals.

Earlier

Cindy Moon was delivering mail at the Fact Channel offices. She really enjoys the life she is living, balancing her life between her internship at the Fact Channel and fighting crime as Silk.

When she returns to the bunker she has stayed in for over a decade she thinks about how she was bitten by a radioactive spider and got her powers. She was almost instantly locked away to protect the world by an entity called Morlun.[1] Now that the threat is gone and she is free, she has been looking for her family, who seem to have disappeared in the years she has been gone.

Once she is off work she begins following the leads she has on her family. From an old neighbor she learns that her family moved out of their apartment nine years ago. There have been no cash transactions and their possessions have been moved into storage. At the storage company, she learns that there is no forwarding address and all bills are paid on time, in cash. At the bank where her family kept their accounts, she learns that they have been closed for years. She remembers when Ezekel Sims first came to her family he came with an assistant named Tamara Pearson. Unfortunately, Ezekiel has been dead for some time now.[2] Unfortunately, his business closed up shop within the year that he died and there is no trace of it.

She decides to talk a walk through her old neighborhood and is surprised by how much it has changed over the last decade. Sitting at a park bench favored by her and her father, she remembers how her dad always told her to slow down. She continues going around to ask questions but nobody knows what happened to the Moon family after they moved away. She decides to get a bite at her favorite pizza joint only to discover that it has closed down. However, seeing the old joint brings up old memories.

Years Ago

The last time Cindy was at BG’s Pizza it was to break up with her boyfriend at the time, Hector Cervantez. To cover up why she was leaving town, she tells him a made up story about how she was going to Oxford. Hector insists on going with her, but she doesn’t want him to give up his sports scholarship at Boston College. Hector doesn’t know what else to say. Cindy tells her that she loves him and that they should spend their last night together doing something other than fighting with each other.

Then

Cindy’s mind snaps back to the present when she hears someone calling for help. Changing into Silk finds the Hydra robot. When she attacks it, it fled into the sewers, leading to….

Now

Caught in the robot’s tentacles, Cindy expands her body as much as possible so when the robot squeezes she can contort and slide right out. She then trashes the robot. Exhausted, Silk climbs out of the sewer and pulls off her mask. That’s when she is seen and recognized by Hector Cervantez, who asks what she was doing in the sewers. She says that she is investigating a story for the Fact Channel. When he asks where she has been all these years and she gives him the same Oxford story. He tells her that he called and they told him she never applied. As she struggles for an answer, another woman comes up and asks Hector who Cindy is. Hector then introduces Cindy to Audrey, his fiancée.

Heading back to her apartment, Cindy calls in the lead to her boss, Natalie Long who tells her the robot was leftover from some failed Hydra mission. Ending the call, Cindy tries to come to terms with the fact that her first love is engaged to marry another woman. As she sulks, Cindy is unaware that two people are monitoring her. They are pleased with how she reacted to destroying the Hydra robot since it was able to get a sample of her blood.[3]

The following morning, Silk is web-slinging across the city trying to convince herself that her life is going okay all considered. That’s when her spider-sense begins warning her that the new and improved Dragonclaw is coming up behind her…
