Kid Colt Outlaw
Kid Colt is in the Canyon Gap Bank when Moose Crabb attempts to rob the bank. Kid Colt stops Moose and his accomplice from robbing the bank. However, when he takes the stolen loot away from the gang, Sheriff Nixon enters and assumes that Kid Colt is in league with the other two crooks. When Kid Colt tries to profess his innocence, the two outlaws claim he was helping them. As a result, all three are locked in the town jail.[1] When the outlaws suggest Kid Colt decides to partner up with them, the Kid gets angry and starts fighting with his cellmates. The sheriff breaks up the fight, warning Kid Colt that if he doesn’t stop he’ll be locked in solitary.
Later that day, when there is only on guard, Moose and his friend trick the guard into coming close enough to their cell to grab him. As they unlock their cell and try to escape they are caught by Sheriff Nixon. Before they can kill Nixon, Kid Colt get ahold some guns and shoots the guns out of their hands. With Nixon taking control of the situation he figures he was wrong about Kid Colt. That’s when he noticed that Kid Colt had managed to disappear in the confusion.

Continuity Notes
The sheriff says he doesn’t know why Kid Colt. Which is fair because there are many conflicting stories that tell Kid Colt’s origins as seen in Kid Colt: Hero of the West #1, Kid Colt Outlaw #11, 39, and Kid Colt #4. The only consistent point in all of these stories is that Kid Colt is wanted for killing the men responsible for murdering his father (and/or other family members)

Kid Colt is trying to mind his own business in a saloon when a local outlaw named Blackjack Weems begins mocking the Kid for drinking milk instead of a real man’s drink. He then tries to goad Kid Colt into a fight by drawing his gun. Kid Colt quickly loses his patience and instead of drawing his gun, he lifts up his table and uses it as a shield as he charges at Blackjack. Knocking the gun out of Blackjack’s hand, Kid Colt then beats him up.
Furious, Blackjack draws his second gun but Kid Colt is faster at the draw and shoots it out of Weems’ hand. When Blackjack realizes who he picked a fight with he suddenly becomes afraid and begs Kid Colt to spare his life, saying he wouldn’t have caused any trouble had he known he was the famous gunfighter. Having shown everyone how much of a coward Blackjack Weems is, Kid Colt tells the locals that they should hurry up an elect a sheriff.

Trail of the Outlaw!
Riding along the trail in Wyoming, Kid Colt is shot at by a lone sniper. Evading the shots, Kid Colt disarms the man by shooting the gun out of his hand. That’s when the shooter realizes that he was shooting at the legendary Kid Colt. The young man says the Kid is just the person he is looking for because he is practicing how to rob people. That’s when this strange insists that he is a better shot than Kid Colt. The youth proves it by being able to shoot a silver dollar multiple times after tossing it into the air.
Impressed with the young man, Kid Colt asks why he’s devoting these skills to robbery so he can be an outlaw just like Kid Colt. Deciding he needs to steer this kid away from a life of crime., Kid starts pretending to be jumpy at every sound. He then gives the boy a speech about how he is constantly hunted and often goes days without food or sleep and lastly how he doesn’t have any friends or family because he is always on the run.
This convinces the youth that the life of an outlaw is not for him and he promises Kid Colt that he’ll return home and remain on the straight and narrow.

Kid Colt Outlaw
Bull Chisholm is frightening in the people in the street by firing off his guns in the middle of the road. Kid Colt tells him to stop, but the trouble maker refuses but the Kid easily beats him into submission before the law shows up. As Kid Colt leaves the scene he is unaware that he is being observed by Jeb Wilkins who intends to defeat Kid Colt in a draw and earn a reputation for himself.
Knowing Kid Colt is heading to the town of Hardcase, Jeb takes a shortcut to the town where he begins bragging about how he will defeat Kid Colt. When the sheriff hears this he rides out to warn Kid Colt about Wilkins boasts. Kid Colt is not interested in a fight and tells the sheriff he’ll avoid Hardcase and the big mouth will eventually get tired in a few days and leave.
However, when Kid Colt doesn’t show up when he should, Jeb Wilkins gets annoyed and decides to go out looking for Kid Colt. Demanding that they duel, Kid Colt obliges and delivers a humiliating defeat when he not only beats Jeb to the draw he also manages to shoot off his holsters before Jeb has a chance to but his hands on the butts of his guns.
